The Woodford Bowls Club, the Friendly Club, was formed in 1952 with a lot of the work done by volunteer labour and materials donated by generous citizens. The original clubhouse was demolished and replaced in 1975. The clubhouse is currently also the home of the PLAY-ITT sessions where musicians meet on Thursday nights and perform to a keen and regular audience. Hot meals at bargain prices are also available at this event. The club boasts a bar, open at 4 pm each day, except Sunday and Monday, meals available on Thursdays & Fridays at 6 pm or by arrangement, a Pool Table and Gaming Machines. The club is run by volunteers with a small number of employees and comprises both men and lady bowlers with a number of non-bowling social members. The premises are available for hire and events can be catered by arrangement with the Provedore. Club and open competitions are run throughout the season and are managed by the Mens and Ladies Bowls Committees with the overall control of the club administered by its Management Board. The single grass green of 8 rinks is maintained to a very high standard by volunteers and is generally available for practice and social bowling when not in use for competition or closed at year end for maintenance.
